7 thoughts on “Florent Schmitt: Alphabetical Listing of Compositions (1884-1958)

  1. Does anyone know how to contact the rights holders for Florent Schmitt’s now-unobtainable in Europe Crepusucules for piano Op. 56 for permission to make a copy or use the IMSLP one?

  2. Quel est l’intérêt d’avoir une liste de compositions sans dates de composition ?

    Meilleurs vœux,
    Nicolas BACRI

  3. It would be extremely useful to have the instrumentation of each work! Particularly the ones where it is not obvious.

  4. Can anyone tell me which, if any, of Schmitt’s works are for unaccompanied vocal ensembles (of any size/configuration)? Particularly interested in anything SATB. Many thanks in advance for your help. Would love to bring some of this to life.

    • Thank you for your note, Mr. Parker. Florent Schmitt did indeed compose a number of works for unaccompanied SATB choral groups, including sacred and secular pieces. Most but not all date from the latter part of his career, and they were written for various different choral groups active in France. Listed below are these items, and in the first five cases there are feature articles on the Florent Schmitt Website that you can access for information (the articles include embedded audio-score videos).

      Hymne a l’ete, Op. 61
      En bonnes voix, Op. 91
      A contre-voix, Op. 104
      Quinque cantus, Op. 121
      Fables sans morales, Op. 130

In addition to the works above which have article links, there are these additional unaccompanied SATB pieces composed by Florent Schmitt:

Par la Tempete, Op. 40, No. 2
Hymne pour la fete d’Aristote ou de la philosophie ancienne, Op. 71, No. 2
      Domine, Dominus Noster, Op. 119
      Laudate, pueri, Dominum, Op. 126
      Oremus pro Pontifice, Op. 127

I hope that this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions or need more information.
